honeymoon

I went to a wedding last night.  While the bridal party and families were dishing out their dinners, the DJ decided to spread a little of his knowledge.  He asks the crowd where the term “honeymoon” came from. Some of the crowd’s answers were quite funny.  Then this little old lady, who I think was a grandmother of the bride, stood up and said:

“Back in the day, it was tradition for the man to swoop his bride up and take her to an unknown place for the cycle of a moon.  During that time, they were to drink a cup of honeyed wine called mead, everyday.  This mead would aid in fertility and she would get pregnant while on their stay.”

I need to find some of this mead.

  1. Does this mead mix well with Captain Morgan?

  2. You should have asked here where you can get some!
